The Red Door Access is Open to Full Traffic for the Final Walleye WEekend
Following the snowstorm from Monday and Tuesday, which dropped 15-20 inches of snow on the lake, the Red Door ice roads are replowed and access is again open to full traffic. This weekend guests and members will be able to access the first and second sand breaks and following mud flats: Weimer, Bomback and Pantry (see map below).
Plowed Wheelhouse Spots & Conditions
The Ice Team has plowed a number of slots on the lake. Those slots as well as additional complimentary custom wheelhouse spots will be available on a first come, first served basis. Please stop in at the office when you arrive to pay for your road pass and to be placed on the list for a spot. The Ice Team will not be plowing custom spots after dark on Friday evening (they will resume again at daylight on Saturday). Please also remember that private plows will not be allowed through the access.
The additional snow added a significant amount of weight to the top of the ice. Be sure to block your house up high (at least 6″) and cautiously drill holes – one at a time is best – so flooding can be monitored. Guest and members should expect flooding this weekend.
Weather
The weather should be relatively nice this weekend. Low weekend temperatures will be around zero with highs of 32 and 20 expected on Saturday and Sunday. Wind is expected to be calm on Friday. On Saturday, sustained wind will reach 15mph with gusts in the lot 20 mph range, but this will be significantly less than the 45 mph gusts experienced last Friday.
Tullibee Tournament
The Red Door Resort is hosing a Tullibee Tournament on Saturday March 5th. More information and a link to register can be found at tullibeetourney.com. Walleye closed on February 27th but Mille Lacs ice fishing opportunities will still be available.
