John Wersal was born and raised on the shores of Mille Lacs Lake. He has made the Mille Lacs area home his whole life and has developed a deep passion – and exceptional skill set – for angling on the big pond, where John has logged thousands of hours on the water.
John believes that Mille Lacs provides unmatched fishing opportunities with world class smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and muskie angling. He is well versed in multiple species and fishing techniques, and is enthusiastic about using the latest technology to stay on the fish.
John takes the time prior to each trip to understand each guest’s expectations for the guided fishing trip and does his best to personalize the trip. In addition to being a successful angler, John prides himself on providing excellent customer service and on working hard to provide a positive and enjoyable experience.
Clients will need to bring current Minnesota fishing license, weather appropriate clothing/rain gear, snacks, beverages and, of course, camera. Clients are welcome to bring their own fishing rods and tackle. Otherwise, rods, tackle, bait and other miscellaneous items will be provided.
John looks forward to hosting you for a guided trip and to sharing a memorable day on the water!
Captain Bruce Jean started fishing at age five and hasn’t stopped since! Born and raised on Rainy Lake, fishing is in Bruce’s’ blood. For the last twenty-eight years Bruce has been part of Rainy Lake Guiding, the family business, where he has been professionally guiding alongside his dad and brother. But Bruce isn’t limited to just Rainy Lake – he takes his expertise to lakes all across Minnesota, including Gull Lake and Lake Mille Lacs.
