Whether you like open water fishing, ice fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, or just relaxing by the lake, The Red Door Resort is sure to be a favorite of your whole family.
We are located in the Wealthwood State Forest on the north end of Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota. Approximately a two hour drive from the Minneapolis – St Paul International Airport, thirty five minutes from Brainerd, and ninety minutes from Duluth.
Our clean and modern motel rooms sleep two to three people. One large four bedroom suite for up to twelve people is also available. We have two and three bedroom cabins that will sleep four to six people each.
We have an event center for group events such as conferences, meetings, reunions and receptions. There is also plenty of outdoor space on the lawn next to the lake where group events can be setup under our huge canopy.
Mille Lacs is a world class multi-species fishing destination for both open water fishing and ice fishing. Renowned for Walleye fishing for decades, Mille Lacs has recently been ranked No. 1 in Bassmaster’s 100 Best Bass Lakes. Mille Lacs regularly produces large Muskie and Northern Pike as well. Some of the most productive fishing areas for all species are just off the shore of our resort.
The Red Door Resort has outstanding accommodations and location for ice fishing. We have daily and weekend access passes, full-service overnight ice house rentals, and packages of portable ice houses with overnight lodging in our motel or cabins.
When you’re not fishing there are plenty of other activities you can enjoy at the resort. We have a sandy beach and a dock with a deck for swimming and sunbathing. We also have shuffleboard, tetherball, horse shoes, a basketball court, and a playground.
The Mille Lacs Trails Snowmobile Club maintains a snowmobile trail system that connects to The Red Door Resort. With over 140 miles and connecting to the Brainerd Lakes trails, our trails were awarded “Best in State” in 2015.
