When it comes to enjoying vacation on Mille Lacs Lake, sometimes a week just isn’t long enough. That’s where a seasonal Minnesota RV park comes in. Instead of packing up and heading home, you set up once and have a home base on the north shore in Aitkin, Minnesota — about two hours north of the Twin Cities — all season long, ready whenever you are. The Red Door Resort offers three distinct ways to plant your flag for the season: the MLV RV Park, Lakeside RV Sites, and our Fish House Parks. Here’s how to figure out which one fits your family best.
Location, location, location
Every seasonal site at The Red Door puts you in a safe, beautiful setting with access to Mille Lacs Lake, nearby recreation, and all of the resort’s on-site amenities. No matter which lot type you choose, leasing a seasonal site makes you a member of the resort, not just a renter, with access to the only heated outdoor pool on Mille Lacs, sauna, swimming beach, playgrounds, and our protected harbor (unlimited boat launching included), plus members-only events and priority access to seasonal harbor slips.
MLV RV Park: a peaceful, wooded retreat
Looking for a spacious lot? The MLV RV Park sits just north of The Red Door Resort and offers 43 full hookup RV lots in a quiet, wooded setting, with easy access to the lake and every resort amenity. MLV RV Park lots range from 2,520 to 3,350 square feet, each with a 12′ x 40′ gravel pad, and comfortably accommodate RVs 40 feet and larger, including slide-outs. Each lot includes 50/30/20-amp electric service, water and sewer, and resort-wide WiFi, plus access to the pool, sauna, beach, basketball hoop, playground, and gaga ball pit. The active camping season runs May 1st through September 30th, with off-season storage included at no extra cost. Annual leases run October 1st through the following September 30th and start at $2,500 per site plus metered electricity. MLV stands for Mille Lacs Veterans and all are welcome; you don’t have to be a veteran to lease a site here, though the park proudly supports veteran causes.
Lakeside RV Sites: steps from the water
If you want to be tucked right in among the action, our Lakeside RV Sites are the spot. The Red Door has 7 full hookup RV lots nestled alongside our cabins and motel, just a short walk to the water. Each lot includes 50/30/20-amp electric service, water and sewer, and resort-wide WiFi, plus full access to the pool, sauna, beach, boat ramp, basketball hoop, playground, and gaga ball pit. Annual leases run October 1st through the following September 30th and are $3,040 per year plus metered electricity.
Fish House Parks: a year-round fishing community
Here for the fishing? The Red Door offers three Fish House Parks, East Park, West Park, and the West Park Expansion, with over 200 electric-only lots for your wheelhouse or skid house. West Park is built into a pine grove and shares a shower house and playground with the West Park Expansion. East Park sits closest to the main resort and has its own shower house and playground.
Fish house lots include 20 or 30-amp electrical, resort-wide WiFi, and access to shower houses that stay open all year, plus every resort amenity. Annual leases run April 1st through the following March 31st, renew automatically each year, and start at $1,950 per year. If you’d rather keep your skid house on Mille Lacs Lake for winter use only, we also offer winter-only storage starting at $900 per year.
For winter placement, moving, and removal on the ice, fish house owners work directly with North Mille Lacs Ice Fishing (NMLIF), an independently owned and operated business serving the north end of Mille Lacs Lake. NMLIF sets its own rates, schedules, and policies, and all ice road access and on-ice services are arranged and paid for directly with NMLIF. The Red Door Resort does not operate ice roads or provide on-ice services.
Life as a seasonal member
Renting a seasonal site here means becoming part of a genuine community on the north shore of Mille Lacs Lake, not just securing a parking spot. Set out from your lot for a quick walk to the beach, where you can chat with new friends while the kids play in the lapping waves. Gather around the fire pit and swap stories under a sky full of northern Minnesota stars. Head into town for the farmers market and bring something back for a potluck with your park neighbors.
Members also get first access to our summer lineup of community events, including our open water fishing tournament, bean bag tournament, and member appreciation dinner. A lot of our seasonal families have been coming back for years, and their kids have grown up right alongside the kids on the neighboring lots. That’s the whole point: it’s not just a place to park, it’s a place to belong.

- Select your desired lot and complete the New Member Information Form.
- Complete a background check initiated by the resort.
- Sign a new lease and make your initial lot payment.
