Make the Most of Lake Life at The Red Door Resort

We’ve all been there –The minivan is busting at the seams, and its occupants are amped. Of all the family-friendly resorts in Minnesota, you’ve picked a winner  – and everyone in your snack-fueled, coffee-infused crew knows it. The most important things that make a cherished family summer getaway so… well, cherished… are the people along for the ride. And when you step out onto the gorgeous grounds of the best Minnesota resorts for kids and adults alike, what do you want? An experience that the entire family will love – and you’ll get it tenfold at The Red Door Resort. This picturesque home away from home checks all the boxes for a relaxing and fun, memory-filled vacation. So when the kids inevitably ask, “Are we there yet?” just a bit too soon, you won’t be tempted to sigh; instead, you’ll reply, “Gosh, I hope so!”

The Red Door Resort amenities list is the first thing that’ll grab you by your cute polka dot swimsuit and shout whisper, “You’re in for the best time of your life!” The perfect summer family getaway in Minnesota includes:

A lakeside sauna experience is the definition of a relaxing, unplugged northern retreat. The new 14-person LÜTSAUNA sauna is purposefully situated to give you the best seats in the house, Lake Mille Lacs-side. Detox, read, talk about your next adventure, or just soak in that view. You’ll walk out feeling clear-headed, lighter, and completely recharged.

The new heated outdoor pool at The Red Door Resort is the talk of the town, and that’s because it elevates the experience by offering even more fun, togetherness, and splash-worthy moments for ages 1-101  – and it’s sure nice to be lounging at one of the best Minnesota resorts with a pool, especially on those chilly vacation days.

Adult monkeys like to climb just as much as baby monkeys do, so when everyone gets the itch to play, The Red Door Resort’s playground is the place to be. With swirly slides, climbing walls and ropes, and swings that’ll send you high to the sky, of all the fun things to do at Lake Mille Lacs, a timeless playground is always a family favorite. There’s also a Gaga ball pit, basketball courts, and cornhole boards for friendly competition and lots and lots of laughs.

It’s time to dive in! To the lake, that is. And speaking of playgrounds, splishing and splashing in a beautiful bed of water is a playground of sorts, for the boldest of freshwater souls. Fishing and swimming resorts just hit differently (read: better) when you’re at your favorite Minnesota vacation destination, and have a gang of various ages and interests sharing the journey. You can plan a day of guided fishing with Captain John, where kids can learn and parents can simply snap away for the memory book – or vice versa! You can also rent a boat or one of the newly available this year, NorthStar pontoons, for a sunning, fishing, wind-in-your-hair kind of day at the lake. And a trip to The Red Door Resort isn’t complete without one of Lake Mille Lacs’ signature sunsets. Not to be dramatic, but it’ll be the most amazing thing you’ll see all summer.

The reason The Red Door Resort is considered one of the top family vacation spots in Minnesota isn’t just what’s offered at the resort; it’s what’s offered around the resort. State parks near Lake Mille Lacs are the real deal. Not only do they offer trails and picnicking, but it means you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views and even more thrills. The little ones will be excited to explore and have PB&Js alfresco, and parents will be excited by the gorgeous views and exhausted kids at the end of the day.

Take a field trip to one of the many golf courses near Lake Mille Lacs for driving practice, 18 holes, or let’s be honest, fun in the golf cart. The Red Door Resort is located in Aitkin, Minnesota, where you’ll find unique places to shop, eat, and play, and there are plenty of other charming towns encircling this lakeside retreat, each providing their own sense of outdoor adventure in Minnesota.

Looking for a sign? Here it is! Book now to make unforgettable memories this summer at an ideal family resort that everyone will love!

Activities at Red Door

The Red Door Resort offers a number of activities at or near the resort. Our swimming beach has a sandy lake bottom that stretches out from shore. Activities available at the main resort include a playground, basketball, and gaga ball pit.

Mille Lacs Lake features a world renowned fishery and is also great for recreational use, including swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, wind surfing, kayaking and canoeing. Off the lake there are walking, hiking and snowmobiling opportunities; many of the trails wind through hundreds of acres of beautiful state land and are accessible year round. The area around the resort has a high concentration of sugar maples, which means that, in the fall, the area has some of the most vibrant colors in the state.

The resort is only minutes away from excellent hunting land, state parks, and golf courses. Further afield, you can access the Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Brainerd International Raceway, Paul Bunyan Land, Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club, and the Mille Lacs Indian Museum.
