Ice is slowly Building
After freezing as far as the eye could see earlier in the week and ice measuring 0.75” on the unprotected lake and almost 2” in our harbor, the open water was back again yesterday at the Red Door access. (We even witnessed an attempted boat launch at the Wealthwood public access.) Then this morning things were frozen again. The seven day forecast predicts highs at or above freezing with no lows below 20 degrees, so we expect a slow ice build and hopefully we are past having open water at the access. We really could use a spell of consistent cold – and preferably calm and snow free – weather to make progress toward a viable hard water season. We will keep you posted on progress.
