The Lake

Mille LacsMinnesota may be home to more than 10,000 lakes, but Lake Mille Lacs is the second largest lake in the state and a hot spot for incredible fishing opportunities. The more than 200 square mile lake is known for giving anglers a true “big lake” experience with different habitats and species of fish all in one place without rubbing elbows with other boats. From reef tops to deep water to mud flats, you can find it in Lake Mille Lacs. The northern portion of the lake near The Red Door Resort is home to much of the lake’s mudflat terrain. Head south for more gravel and rocky bottoms with some really nice deep-water sections along the way. You can also find plenty of shallow reef-top fishing spots all around the lake. Mille Lacs is also one of those lakes where you can stay out on the water all day and move to where the fish are while having multiple shoreside eateries dotting the coastline. Target a certain fish or explore different areas to see what you can pull in!
