Your Seasonal RV Getaway Near Lake Mille Lacs: Why Veterans RV Park is the Best Way to Spend Your Summer

So, you say your idea of the perfect summer vacation is hitting the open road with the family in your house on wheels. You stock it with the must-haves, the essentials, the basics, and the staples, ensuring that at any moment, you’re ready to park, unwind, and explore. You’ve done your homework, and you find that one of the best RV parks near Lake Mille Lacs is the recently completed Veteran’s RV Park. This summertime situation is a win-win (win) of sorts because at Veterans Park, you get RV camping with modern comforts. You get convenience, you get beauty, and you get community. Where else will you be surrounded by a group of people who, no matter how many times you quote Cousin Eddy’s line, “That there’s an RV,” will always give you a laugh?

Now, through September 30th, 2025, the seasonal sites at Veterans Park lease for $2,500 (plus metered electricity). At Mille Lacs Veterans RV Park, each lot offers:

  • 100 amp (50/30/20) electrical service.
  • Water and sewer connections.
  • Resort-wide WiFi (Coming soon)
  • A peaceful, wooded RV park. Have you heard the phrase “ God’s country?” Well, this is it.

But wait, there’s more! We’re all family here, so Veterans Park members get access to all the amenities at The Red Door Resort, and there are countless!

  • Starting this season, there’s something new to dive into! Step aside fireworks; this July, the main event is the opening of a new heated outdoor pool at The Red Door Resort! Splash, float, and relax the day away! Then retire to your string-lit awning haven.
  • When it comes to resorts with saunas in Minnesota, The Red Door Resort is proud to be one of the finest. Have you seen the lakeside view from the 14-person LÜTSAUNA sauna? Ahhhh…
  • Every warm-weather getaway comes with the need for kids to burn off some energy. The Red Door Resort also has an inviting and vibrant family playground that screams fun and excitement.
  • Kids growing up in the 80s had Four Square–this generation has Gaga Ball Pits, and one at The Red Door Resort is ready for action!
  • If you love a friendly game of PIG or HORSE, you’re in luck! A basketball court awaits you and your game.
  • Lakeside beauty that you can’t get at just any family-friendly RV resort.
  • Speaking of lakeside beauty, load up your summeriest playlist, step into your flip-flops, and park your towel on the soft, sandy beach. It’s time to relax on the shores of Lake Mille Lacs while the kids splash, laugh, and play.
  • Peace of mind knowing you’ve chosen a prime Minnesota RV destination for your family of outdoor lovers.

Your home-away-from-home is brimming with fun and excitement, but how about a day of a different kind of fun?

  • Trade sun for slots at Grand Casino Mille Lacs, right in your own RV backyard. Take in a show, have a good meal, do a little gambling, and people watch the day away!
  • Paul Bunyan Land has been around since the ’50s, making it a timeless must-visit. Where else can you see a 26’ talking animated lumberjack, ride in flying cages, and walk through a pioneer village with chicken coops, a blacksmith, and a candy store?
  • Brainerd is home to Paul Bunyan Land, but it’s also home to gorgeous golf courses, hiking trails, and loads of family fun. Ride go-carts at Northland Kart Kountry, play laser tag at the Holiday Inn, or get a sweet treat at Goody’s Gourmet Treats
  • A quick 30-minute drive from The Red Door Resort, you’ll find the land of epic mountain biking trails and turquoise lakes–Cuyuna. You don’t want to miss a day trip to this charming town where the shopping–and food-and-drink scene–is simply the best.

One more reason to love Veterans Park: You don’t have to board up the house and say tearful good-byes to the neighbors because it’s conveniently located in north central Minnesota, 38421 State Highway 18, Aitkin, MN 56431, to be exact, and just north of The Red Door Resort. This means, in addition to offering easy access to Lake Mille Lacs, it also provides easy access to you! Basically, adventure awaits just beyond your doorstep.

What are you waiting for? The fun isn’t going to happen on its own! Summer is booking up fast—secure your stay today!

*All are welcome! You don’t have to be a veteran to lease a site at Veterans RV Park, though the park proudly supports veteran causes.

Activities at Red Door

The Red Door Resort offers a number of activities at or near the resort. Our swimming beach has a sandy lake bottom that stretches out from shore. Activities available at the main resort include a playground, basketball, and gaga ball pit.

Mille Lacs Lake features a world renowned fishery and is also great for recreational use, including swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, wind surfing, kayaking and canoeing. Off the lake there are walking, hiking and snowmobiling opportunities; many of the trails wind through hundreds of acres of beautiful state land and are accessible year round. The area around the resort has a high concentration of sugar maples, which means that, in the fall, the area has some of the most vibrant colors in the state.

The resort is only minutes away from excellent hunting land, state parks, and golf courses. Further afield, you can access the Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Brainerd International Raceway, Paul Bunyan Land, Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club, and the Mille Lacs Indian Museum.
