Lake Mille Lacs Fishing | The Red Door Resort

Mille Lacs Opener at the Red Door

Thanks to all our members and loyal customers for making the opener a memorable one.  With the water temp at 43 degrees, the walleye were very shallow and reports varied with the most success being in the 12-14 fow.  It was really interesting to see hundreds of spawning suckers in our harbor as well as spawning walleye and we had more shiners and bait fish in our harbor than ever before.

I also want to thank all our friends, resort family, neighbors, and community that reached out to us, sent prayers and visited our daughter Ayla at North Memorial Hospital.  Ayla was involved in a single vehicle car crash on Hwy 18, suffered some serious injuries, and was flown to the cities but thankfully, is recovering quickly.  Against the odds, Ayla should make a full recovery but will require some out-patient therapy and months of healing.  Words cannot express how grateful and touched we were with all the love and support you have all given us during this challenging time; we are so fortunate to have such beautiful caring friends and live in such a supportive community.  Thank you all!

Activities at Red Door

The Red Door Resort offers a number of activities at or near the resort. Our swimming beach has a sandy lake bottom that stretches out from shore. Activities available at the main resort include a playground, basketball, and gaga ball pit.

Mille Lacs Lake features a world renowned fishery and is also great for recreational use, including swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, wind surfing, kayaking and canoeing. Off the lake there are walking, hiking and snowmobiling opportunities; many of the trails wind through hundreds of acres of beautiful state land and are accessible year round. The area around the resort has a high concentration of sugar maples, which means that, in the fall, the area has some of the most vibrant colors in the state.

The resort is only minutes away from excellent hunting land, state parks, and golf courses. Further afield, you can access the Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Brainerd International Raceway, Paul Bunyan Land, Wealthwood Rod and Gun Club, and the Mille Lacs Indian Museum.
