The Mille Lacs Walleye Bite is Fantastic
Fishing has been Hot Hot HOT
Here at The Red Door Resort on the north shores of Mille Lacs Lake we had just a fantastic opening weekend with lots of walleyes eager to bite. The best tactics have been pitching or dragging jigs and shiners along the rock to sand transition areas along the north shore. Fish at depths of 6′-13′ feet during the day. When it’s sunny and calm feel free to try a little deeper. The bite has also been fantastic with bobbers and leeches. The best colors have been chartreuse, blue and pink. The night bite over the weekend was just incredible for the brave soles who went out at midnight! They were sure rewarded for their efforts with a super hot bite. I anticipate the bite will only improve as these fish recover from spawn and put on their feed bags. The fish seemed to be super healthy. Anglers are catching lots of different year classes / ages of fish. Water temps are currently hovering around 52-54 degrees. As always the lake is really clear. Try casting to the fish and make sure not to fish too close to the boat. The fish are going to spook if the boat gets too close.
Give us a call here at the Red Door Resort if you have any questions and to book your lake front cabins, our clean beautiful motel rooms and your guided fishing trips! All top end electronics and fishing equipment provided for guided fishing trips so give me a call and let’s get out on the water!
