Ice Report and Pull List

By |2019-01-15T15:26:11-05:00January 3rd, 2019|Fishing Reports, Ice Fishing, Ice Reports, News|Comments Off on Ice Report and Pull List

Our ice team worked diligently 10 plus hour days all week to build our roads and pull houses. Our access is great with no bridging and access to the first and second breaks. There is a bad pressure crack out ½ mile that is not yet safe to bridge that blocks access to the flats but the fishing on the first and second breaks has been exceptional. This weekend, we will be letting out ½ ton trucks with single axle wheelhouses (recommended to the first break only), or ¾ ton non-diesel trucks or lighter vehicles. PLEASE KEEP SPEEDS TO 10 [...]

Early June Resort Update

By |2018-06-02T22:02:12-05:00June 2nd, 2018|Fishing Reports, News|Comments Off on Early June Resort Update

Fishing continues to be spectacular for both walleye and smallies and thanks to Nick Kaiser and all our guests that share their pics and memories with us. Water temp has warmed to 60-64 degrees and most fishing success continues to be on the first break and shallower. Matt Williams has been working hard to get our arcade completed and ready for the kids and our water tramp will be going back in (again) after a mishap with the latest storm. It is exciting to see the kids swimming, people suntanning, jet skiing, etc. and enjoying all the activities that [...]

Mille Lacs Opener at the Red Door

By |2018-06-02T22:16:32-05:00May 16th, 2018|Fishing Reports, News|Comments Off on Mille Lacs Opener at the Red Door

Thanks to all our members and loyal customers for making the opener a memorable one.  With the water temp at 43 degrees, the walleye were very shallow and reports varied with the most success being in the 12-14 fow.  It was really interesting to see hundreds of spawning suckers in our harbor as well as spawning walleye and we had more shiners and bait fish in our harbor than ever before. I also want to thank all our friends, resort family, neighbors, and community that reached out to us, sent prayers and visited our daughter Ayla at North Memorial [...]

Spring is finally here!

By |2018-06-02T22:21:01-05:00April 25th, 2018|News|Comments Off on Spring is finally here!

It looks like Spring is finally here! Weather up at the Red Door has been in the mid 50’s this week reaching into the mid 60’s in the coming days. Much of the snow has melted but with the frost still in the ground, the parks and access roads are an absolute muddy mess. I am hopeful that the next week of warm weather will dry things up somewhat and allow for better access to the parks. The ice remains a bright white with little signs of decay except for the melting snow on top. My guess is that [...]

Ice House Removal and Customer Appreciation Recap

By |2018-06-02T22:22:59-05:00February 26th, 2018|News|Comments Off on Ice House Removal and Customer Appreciation Recap

This pic is of the last house being pulled from the ice.  Easily the most challenging year we have ever had with multiple early ice cracks and many bridges; it is almost ironic that once the ice stabilized and the issues were behind us, the season comes to an end.  Thanks to all our members and patrons that were patient and understanding and to the many that gave us a helping hand, it is greatly appreciated!  Thanks to everyone that chose the Red Door for their winter adventures even though it was more of a challenging bite this year. Ice Report

By |2018-06-02T22:03:39-05:00January 28th, 2018|Ice Reports, News|Comments Off on Ice Report

Our ice road access is open but limited to 1/2 ton trucks or smaller for now. No wheel houses, no diesel pickups, and no 3/4 ton or larger pickups can be allowed on or off the ice at this time. With the widely varying temperatures of late several pressure ridges and active cracks have formed close to shore. Thinner ice of about 11" has been discovered in some areas near shore as well. Bridges are in place and detours have been plowed as needed. Ice is naturally under constant change with temperature and new trouble spots can form at any moment [...]

Beautiful weather and the 2nd Annual Fishing for a Cause Tournament is coming to the Red Door Resort this coming weekend.   We couldn't have asked for better weather and this warmer weather should drastically improve the bite!   Come on out for the festivities this coming weekend; our access should be open to all vehicles and wheelhouses.   This past weekend hit us with very cold weather and barometric pressure that made fishing tough though some of our members and a number of our rentals did well and shared their pics/memories with us.  The second break continues to produce [...]
